I took Friday off this week and took a rare extra-long weekend. There was no T-Ball this weekend, so the kids and I left for camp immediately after picking big sister up from school.
I brought my bow and blind, hoping to do some turkey hunting. As it turned out, there was very little sign of the big birds at any of the properties where I could hunt. I opted to sleep in on Saturday and Monday, pretty much ensuring that I would do absolutely no turkey hunting this year.
On Sunday, I got up at 4am and went fishing on Lake St. George with my dad. We had a couple of hits in the first hour, but they spit the hook and then we had almost 3 hours of absolutely nothing. At least there were a lot of loons to look at.
The kids spent most of the weekend doing a great job of playing with their cousins. It was actually pretty relaxing for the most part! We did a little bit of geocaching, too. I went back to a nearby rail road trestle THREE times trying find one. When I got home tonight, I looked it up on the website and found that it had been "archived" and removed a week ago! Found 3 others, though. The one pictured below was of particular note. Partly for the amazing view, partly for it's proximity to some radio towers and partly for the unique cache container. According to the cache notes, that container was originally used at a different location right near a road. The Maine DOT found it and thought it might be an IED. I guess they eventually opted to open it rather than blow it up, and returned it to the cache owner. Anyway... here's the view:

On the way home, with it being Memorial Day, I decided to stop and pay my respects:

They are much more relaxed about jaywalking in the country:
Lastly, I had some really interesting deer activity this past week! I don't know what it is about this particular tree but it seems to drive the deer nuts. Some seemed to be trying to eat it, but others might have been young bucks trying to mark territory? First definitive coyote video, too (he doesn't stick around, so don't bother watching past the first few seconds). The Doe in video 4 looks to be pregnant. Might have some fawn videos soon!
