We had a pretty hectic weekend, with my little baby turning 3 and having her birthday on Sunday. In the past, we've always just had family over for the parties, but we invited a couple of long-time friends and their children over this time. It was definitely the biggest crowd we've had at the house since we discontinued our annual 4th of July parties a few years ago. Thankfully, we had seemingly the first sunny day in a week on Sunday afternoon and the kids were able to spend most of the party outside on the slip 'n slide and in the pool.
Other than the party, the rest of the weekend was pretty quiet. We spent some time cleaning the house up, but I didn't get a chance to mow the lawn like I should have because it was so wet all week. In fact, the slip 'n slide created a huge mud hole on my lawn and I had to give the birthday girl a quick shower before she could blow out her candles. Big sister handed her the first present which she had wrapped and insisted on spending some of her own money on: big girl underwear! Potty training was going amazingly well a couple of weeks ago, but the week prior had been a major setback. So far, this week we've been letting her wear underwear during the day and she's done ok (but not perfect).
Everyone knows I'm a real stickler for early bedtimes, but I'm going to let them stay up late this Thursday because the North Yarmouth Events Committee (on which I'm currently doing a tour of duty) is having an amazing juggling show at Westcustogo Hall down the street. The act is called TWO: High Energy Juggling. I've seen a DVD demo for these guys and it's going to be great. $5 per person and $15 per family. Hopefully, we get a big crowd.
One amusing note regarding this week's farmshare. My wife decided to do some off-roading in our minivan while picking up this week's bounty and had to be towed out by the farmer's tractor. I really wish I could have seen that... seeing the muddy van was pretty cool, though.
