Last Thursday, the 4 of us went to see TWO put on their juggling show at Wescustogo Hall. They were even better than I had expected! They were not only incredible jugglers, but they were hilarious as well. North Yarmouth is a long way from The Tonight Show or the White House, where they had performed in the past, but they definitely didn't seem to be "phoning it in". Unfortunately... around 20 minutes in, my 3 year old started acting up and whined about wanting to go home. We had only brought one vehicle and I really didn't want to deprive my big girl, so I walked the little one home. I carried her as long as I could (probably 2/3 of a mile) and made her walk the last 1/3 of a mile or so with me. Five minutes after we got home, the other two pulled in with the van. Oh well, it was a nice misty evening and we both got some exercise.
I took last Friday off to make a 3-day weekend because I was planning on taking the kids to camp for a couple of nights and with it being 2 hours away I can't wait to leave after work. The little one almost fell asleep on the way as it was. That probably wouldn't have happened if we hadn't gone all the way up to Bangor to shop around before heading back down to camp. I took the girls to their new favorite restaurant, Governors, for supper. It wasn't what I consider the "real" one in Orono, though, because I didn't feel like going another 10 minutes north.
Saturday, we had my grandfather and 3 of his sisters come to the camp to be videotaped while my dad prodded them for stories. We ended up going for almost 2 hours and got some good stuff. Everyone is clamoring to get it on DVD, but they're going to have to be patient because that's going to take me some time to do with this slow PC of mine.
Monday night, I went with Dad to the new Cabelas store finally. Some people were amazed that I hadn't been there already, but my loathing of crowds had kept me away up until that point. Dad showed me what he wanted for his birthday, but we agreed that I'd hold off on getting it until they had the Delorme PN-20 GPS that I want in stock. I'm actually glad that it wasn't, though, because after doing a bunch of research today, it looks like the PN-40 that they're releasing a month or two is going to be far superior. I had planned for a couple of years to get a Garmin, but after poring over some geocaching forums today, it looks Delorme has managed to put out a fantastic product (despite my initial skepticism.)
Our farmer warned us in his last mass email that the crops were struggling with all of the moisture this year, so I guess we're suffering through a down year. With that in mind... here's this week's veggies:
2. parsley
3. basil
5. broccoli
6. kale
(Ang must have been in a hurry when she took this one!)
8. fingerling potatoes
10. summer squash
11. cucumbers
