Here's what we scored in week 2. My favorite so far has definitely been the hakurei radish. Tonight I sliced the bulbs very thin and sauteed them with some shallots in olive oil for a couple of minutes until the shallots started browning and then tossed in the greens to wilt for about a minute. A little red wine vinegar and salt finished it off.

Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
from "Do You Realize?" by the Flaming Lips (Video #11 here - the 450k version sounds great if your internet connection can handle it).
I remember being a new father and listening to that cd in

I was really hoping to make it another couple of weeks without installing the air conditioners, but when I went upstairs last night to put the kids to bed and the thermostat was at 91, I knew that the window fans weren't going to suffice. Luckily, they go in a lot quicker than they come out, so it didn't delay bed time too much. I definitely need to put something black over the side panels because the little one got up at 5am this morning and when I went in to snuggle her back to sleep, the room was very bright.

Uh oh - I'm doing my weekend recap on TUESDAY. The inevitable slide may be underway. I was good for a couple of months though, right?
I'm going to start my weekend with Thursday this week. I took half the day off from work because it was my turn to cook for my friend Erin, who is recovering from major surgery. She has been suffering in great pain for years and finally had been diagnosed with chiari malformation, sringomyelia and tethered cord syndrome. Basically, they confirmed what I've always suspected about her having something wrong with her brain. I kid, I kid! Laughter is the best medicine, right? That and manicotti.
