Can't stop the slime
I snapped some photos today to go along with yesterday's post.
First up is my sweet new woodpile. We started burning wood last year and I think we'll be doing it even more this coming year.
Here's a shot of my budding garden.
And lastly... if you ever wondered how many slugs that you can fit into a 32oz yogurt cup, I'd guess that the number is somewhere north of 400. Sounds hard to believe, but here's what 97 of them look like:
It only took me around 15 minutes to find all of those slugs around the edge of my garden. I would have had over 100, but a couple slipped through my make-shift chop-sticks and were lost in the bushes. Tomorrow is our first pick-up day at the CSA. Can't wait to see what we get!
That cup of slugs rules...

Wow, you guys have been busy! Things are looking great. How is the new compost bin?

I guess it's ok... there was some white fuzz growing in it tonight, though, so I need to find out if that's a problem or not.
It's definitely helped cut down on the amount of trash we throw out, which is going to be a big boon when we switch to Pay-As-You-Throw this fall.
I wish I could compost dirty diapers.

You have a stove, diapers burn, ashes good for garden, use it.

Mmmmmmm... I can already smell the melting, urine-soaked plastic and burning poop coming from our living room wood stove. I've got a better idea - I'll bag them up and drop them off for YOU to burn and put in your garden! Free of charge - you won't find a better deal. =P
